During a keratin treatment, keratin – the protein your hair is largely made of – is worked deep into the hair fibre and sealed in with heat. The result: hair that feels softer, frizzes far less and has a mirror-like shine. It is easier to blow-dry and holds its shape better, even in rain or humid weather.
In Brazil, keratin has been a staple of hair care for years. Maria brings that experience to Amsterdam: not a one-size-fits-all treatment, but an approach that suits the thickness, length and condition of your hair.
Keratin is ideal if you:
Both treatments make your hair smoother and shinier, but they differ in intensity and how long they last.
Classic keratin treatment – takes 2.5 to 4 hours and gives the longest-lasting result: 3 to 5 months. Afterwards, leave your hair alone for 72 hours: no washing, no tying up and no hair clips.
Blowout version – a lighter, quicker treatment of 1.5 to 2 hours. The effect stays visible for 6 to 12 weeks and you can wash your hair the same day. Ideal if you are short on time or want to experience smooth hair first.
Which version suits you best depends on your hair type and what you want. We discuss this beforehand, so you know exactly what to expect.

Straight after the treatment your hair feels silky soft and visibly shiny. With the right care you will enjoy the result for months. Use a sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner, as sulphates wash keratin out faster. After the classic treatment, wait 72 hours before washing or tying up your hair, and protect it from chlorine and salt water.
Want to pamper your hair in between? Combine keratin with our Brazilian hair ritual, or choose hair botox if you are mainly after repair and shine without smoothing your hair.
How long does a keratin treatment last?
A classic keratin treatment stays visible for 3 to 5 months on average, the blowout version for 6 to 12 weeks. Exactly how long depends on your hair type, how often you wash it and whether you use sulphate-free products. The keratin washes out gradually, so there is no harsh line as your hair grows.
How much does a keratin treatment cost?
The price depends on the length and thickness of your hair and on the version you choose: long, thick hair needs more product and time than short hair. Send us a photo of your hair via WhatsApp and you will receive a personal price estimate.
Is keratin bad for your hair?
When applied professionally, keratin actually nourishes and protects the hair fibre. What matters is that the treatment is tailored to your hair and that you follow the aftercare tips. That is why every appointment with us starts with a hair analysis.
Can I combine keratin with colouring or balayage?
Yes. Ideally, colour your hair before the keratin treatment: the keratin seals in the colour and adds extra shine. If you are planning both, we will advise you on the best order and timing. Read more about our balayage in Amsterdam.
Will my curls become permanently straight?
No. Keratin makes curls and waves softer, less frizzy and easier to manage, but it does not permanently change your hair structure. Over time your natural curl gradually returns. Want to enhance your curls instead? Take a look at our curly hair specialist.
